Woodside Priory Theater presents “Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992” by Anna Deveare Smith. This frank, beautiful, sometimes ugly and ultimately hopeful look at the Rodney King Riots that tore Los Angeles apart is told in the actual words of those involved: from rioters, police chiefs, families, politicians, burnt-out shop owners and more.
Based off of over 300 interviews conducted a few months after the riots and performed by a diverse cast of actors, it speaks truths and offers ways forward that are exquisitely relevant to today’s struggles and conversations around race, community and policing. Can the lessons of a city on fire light our way to the future? Join us and see.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to some rough language, as well as video and onstage depictions of violence, this show is not appropriate for children under 10.
“Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992” performs March 9th, 10th and 11th at 7:00 PM and March 12th at 2:00 PM.
