Woodside Priory School presents one of the most powerful plays of the last 15 years, “The Laramie Project.” Full of tragedy, humor, grace and humanity, this is an extraordinary piece, showing the depths to which we can descend as human beings and the amazing compassion and kindness we are capable of. The play follows the aftermath of the actual murder of Matthew Shepard in 1998, a 21-year-old University of Wyoming student who was targeted and murdered by a 19 & 21-year-old in part because he was gay. Composed entirely of interviews with the people from Laramie responding to this tragedy, you see a town and America grapple with who we are, how this could happen and how we can change to prevent this in the future.
