Priory Theater proudly presents "Troilus and Cressida

By Woodside Priory School (other events)

4 Dates Through Nov 21, 2021

ABOUT ABOUT

Live theater returns to Woodside Priory School as Priory Theater presents William Shakespeare’s, Troilus and Cressida.  Combining elements of Romeo and Juliet but set against the backdrop of the Trojan War, this gripping drama, shot through with moments of comedy, will be performed outside and socially distanced on the school’s Schilling Square to a live audience.

The Greek armies have besieged Troy for seven years and scheme for any way to conquer or destroy the city.  Troilus, the youngest son of the king, and Cressida are in love and with the help of her uncle Pandarus meet in secret and confess their feelings. But when Cressida is traded to the Greeks for a Trojan hostage, their love, lives and all of Troy are put at risk.  Full of great characters such as shrewd noble Hector, vain Achilles, shrewd Ulysses, plotting Agamemnon, and with epic sword fights, verbal jousting and comic wit, Priory’s first “Shakespeare on the Square,” is not to be missed.

Performances are November 18-20 at 7:00 and November 21 at 2:00.  Tickets are $5 for Students and children, $15 for adults and may be purchased at  https://priory.ticketleap.com/Troilus or at the door.  Blankets and warm clothes are encouraged and space heaters will be present.  Hot chocolate, coffee and concessions will be available.
